US District Court Western District of Washington - Magistrate Judge 

The United States District Court for the Western District of Washington seeks applicants to fill the vacant magistrate judge position. The magistrate judge duty station will be Seattle, Washington. The position is available starting May 1, 2021. The duties of the position are demanding and wide-ranging, and include the following: (1) Conduct most preliminary proceedings in criminal cases including initial appearances, detention and preliminary hearings, and change of plea hearings. (2) Issue search and seizure warrants. (3) Conduct trials and sentencing hearings in misdemeanor cases. (4) Preside over civil matters upon referral from a United States District Judge, including prisoner civil rights cases, federal habeas corpus petitions, a high volume of Social Security appeals, and other civil matters such as discovery disputes. (5) Conduct settlement conferences. (6) Preside over civil cases upon consent of the parties, including jury trial and entry of final judgment.

Applications must be submitted only by applicants personally and must be received on or before September 25, 2020.

Pierce County Superior Court - Pro Tem Commissioner 

Beginning September 14th, attorneys interested in applying for the 2020 Pierce County Superior Court Pro Tem Commissioner List shall complete a Pierce County Personnel Application, Superior Court Supplemental Questionnaire, and Release of Information.  The application packet may be obtained from the Superior Court website at http://piercecountywa.gov/superior/employment.

**CURRENT PRO TEM COMMISSIONERS MUST APPLY FOR RE-APPOINTMENT**

Applications will be accepted by email only through Friday, October 30, 2020, at 4:00 p.m. and should be emailed to Commissioner Services at Mary.Madden@Piercecountywa.gov. Applicants will receive an acknowledgement email in response.  If an acknowledgement email is not received, please call Mary Madden at 253-798-6697.

An applicant must have a minimum of five years of experience in the State of Washington and may not serve as a pro tem commissioner if appointed or serving as a Guardian Ad Litem for compensation under Title 11, 13 or 26.
