2008 Seafair Torchlight Parade
VABAW was honored to join the Vietnamese Community in the Seafair Torchilight Parade. The "Land of Promises" float won the Most Outstanding Civic Pride and Involvement Award. VABAW hopes to participate with the community in the parade again next year.
Bolinao 52 Documentary
VABAW was a sponsor of ACRS’ Film Screening of Duc Nguyen's Documentary Film "Bolinao 52.” “Bolinao 52” captures the story of the boat refugees who escaped after the end of the Vietnam War. Pictured below are Angelo Locsin, ACRS President Kim Tran, and Duc Nguyen.

2008 Walk for Rice
Since 2006, VABAW has joined with other community groups in the annual Asian Counseling and Referral Service “Walk for Rice,” which is a yearly 2.5 mile fun run and walk-a-thon to help supply culturally appropriate foods to low-income families. Our own VABAW Board Member Kim Tran is currently President of the Asian Counseling and Referral Service.

2008 Little Saigon Spring Clean-Up
VABAW participated in the Little Saigon Spring Clean-Up with the Seattle Chinatown International District Preservation and Development Authority (SCIDpda) on April 19, 2008. Nine VABAW members braved the cold, snow, sleet and rain to paint over graffiti in the Little Saigon area. In addition to painting various lightpoles, doors, and panels, VABAW painted three huge building walls marked with graffiti. Before and after photos of two of the buildings are below. We hope you can join us next year for this event as VABAW continues its community service outreach and projects.

2008 TET Celebration
VABAW celebrated TET with its members, friends, and supporters on February 11, 2008. The TET Celebration was hosted at and sponsored by Christensen O'Connor Johnson and Kindness.
A traditional celebration for Tet is the presenting of fancy red envelopes filled with “lucky money” to children. To honor this tradition, VABAW presented “lucky money scratch tickets” to its guests. Above is Lan Le, wife of Ghi Dang,
Picture above are Anthony Broadman, Claire Hur, and VABAW member Huong Lam (all attorneys at Williams Kastner).
